My Two Pence

Well! What can I say? Once again we hype the pants of the England players (sorry ladies, figure of speech, not literally) and talk about it being our best chance in 40 years, and for what? Yup! for us to get knocked out in the Quarter finals once again.
Is it the managers fault we lost? I'm sure everyone would love to point the finger at Sven, he is the easiest target isn't he? It has absolutely nothing to do with the eleven men running around on the pitch like headless chickens....Nooooo!! It's all Svens' fault. Sure he made some dubious decisions like taking a player he never saw play, only to do exactly what Wenger has been doing all premiership season long, (have Theo warm the bench), (as if it wasn't hot enough in Germany) but after all that's said, the bottom line is England just suck at the very game we invented.
I wouldn't even care if we went out with a 2-1 score line after 90 minutes, but we always seem to lose on penalties in big games.
Oh well! roll on 2010 when we'll be saying "This time they'll do it, after 44 years of hurt".
C'mon Engerland!!
A step by step guide to England winning the World Cup (or any competition for that matter:-
1. Learn to be comfortable on the ball and to take on defenders with pace and trickery.
2. Keep possession of the ball.
3. Never play defensively when you know the opposition has two players suspended. 1-4-1-4 does not work as everyone knows the best form of defense is attack, ie 2-4-4. Alternatives are 2-3-1-4.
4. Learn to play the ball on the ground rather than in the air.
5. Complete media blackout. No interviews to the press till you're in the Final. No pictures of players with girlfriends and wives. No pictures of training facilities and players training.
6. Complete concentration on training and no days off.
7. Bring 4 decent, fully fit strikers with experience and not 2 strikers who are just recovering from injuries and a young 17 year old.
8. Play more competitive games against stronger opposition, ie Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Holland, France, Portugal, Mexico, Ghana, the list is endless. Easy opposition is not a true reflection of who you will face in the competitions.
Yes, its 40 years since England won the World Cup. Clearly no one wants another 4 years of hurt.
